We assist our customers in designing wood shipping containers, crates, skids and pallets for their particular product. We solve their shipping problem by offering ideas that will get their product to the destination safely and in good condition.
When a customer has a product shipping out of the US, we build the appropriate container to accommodate the weight, the size, and the mode of transportation. Light weight shipments going by air can get by with a 1x4 frame, but ocean shipments generally are framed with 2" lumber.
We built a container for equipment requiring a crate 44 feet long, 8feet wide and 8 feet tall going to South America. We have built crates for 28 foot tension cylinders weighing 24,000 pounds and 34,000 pound blowout preventers. However, most of our boxes are smaller than a desk and designed for a specific product or purpose.
We incorporate special blocking, for example saddles, inverted saddles, foam padding, hinges, hasps, handles, Weather Tight Lids, and screws where needed, such as the end boards of a pallet to keep the steel banding from pulling them loose and attaching the lid which allows the box to be opened without damaging it.
Nobody builds a better box in this business. We start with #2 lumber, use screw shank cement coated nails, cement coated staples, only certified plywood; we hold close tolerances and follow military crating specifications for nearly everything we build.
Our boxes meet the heat treat requirements for international shipments. We are audited 12 times per year by an accredited agency to assure compliance and our employees recehck the quality of every box. We do not have a salesman since our product is our salesman and it has paid off well.
To clear customs around the world, the wood container must bear the heat treat stamp of the company that builds the box. Our stamp identifies us, the country of origin, the auditing firm and "IPPC" indicating compliance with the Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade.
We keep drawings on file of all the products we build so the next time our customer needs a repeat of a crate, the engineering is done and we can build it right away.
